Well I do have a theory about most of the haunted houses and ghost stories without any offence to the people who might have experienced it........I think the places they experienced the haunted incidents has higher level of carbon monoxide and it might have caused the brain to hallucinate and also it makes you forgetful too so people does weird stuff and they forget that they even did that and freak out about how things have been moved......the solution to it if anybody experiences it is to buy a CO detector and check it yourself and then come to the conclusion if it was paranormal or not....I am sorry if it's too long

I don't know about this listener's parents, but I regret telling my mom that I didn't believe in god anymore, even though she asked me directly. She is "very Catholic" and would call me sobbing, guilt tripping me, etc. for months after I told her the truth. Here's my ghost story - when we moved into our new home, which we've been in for 10 plus years now, there was this fish smell emanating from the front room, didn't smell anywhere else in the house just in this one room and it was there for weeks I think and then just suddenly went away. And we could never find the source of it. My mum then said she had seen purple mist in the hall (funeral colour) in the middle of the night and then an old man in a vest and long johns climbing up the attic ladders up to my bedroom (we eventually got stairs built). And it was a couple that lived in the house before us, the husband had died in the house. Whenever I'm alone in the house at night I say to myself I know you're not going to show yourself because you know I couldn't handle it lol! - and thankfully I've never seen anything - lol! phew!

Thank you for cheering me up 🤗 I totally believe in all that stuff! No joke, a place I lived in as a child, I would sleep walk, say things. I was put in a different bedroom, it stopped. Found out there was a birth and a death in the bedroom I was sleep walking from. I never want old furniture, I've seen too many shows where people have haunted furniture 😆 I have tinnitus. For me, it's a humming or buzzing sound, like a vibrator in my ear 😆 It's super annoying, especially if it's when I'm trying to sleep. We had a rare earthquake here in MA like last year. It shook me awake. Since there's lots of movement to my apartment from the highway and neighbors, didn't know till my neighbor texted me 😆What really scared me was when we had a fighter jet fly over us recently. My neighbor and I called each other cuz we thought we were gonna die, it sounded like it was going to make impact. Have a great day! 🙂

A robot turning itself on is terrifying. I thought Mak's reasoning was going to be something like "it was probably a timer that they forgot they set" bc that would remove a lot of the fear. Also people do want AI, it can be incredibly helpful it just is also can be incredibly harmful. Israel has a really good ethics AI policy - I believe still in draft - that states out ethical concerns in a way anyone can understand. I thought it was a great starting point to understand some baselines.

In regards to making it illegal for kids under 18 to have social media, Desantis actually signed SB 3 into law, which will go into effect 1/1/25. It requires social media platforms to get rid of accounts of kids under 14 and requires consent for ages 14 -15. A lot of people have of course hated on him for it, just because they don't normally agree with his politics. Though, a lot of kids can get around it probably, it's still a good move to even make people more aware of the dangers of it and put precautions into place.

Had a low 4 earthquake and I thought it was a train going by until it got worse than the train shaking within my apartment. Not crazy to think it's something like that when you are used to that sort of shaking.

I'm so lucky my parents approach to religion was basically "we believe the religion and that these humans can and will lie to try to get you to do what they think is right for you" some things are still a bit of a struggle with that but it really tamped down some of stuff.

If I were a ghost I'd definitely pick an interesting person like Alayna to follow... kind of like how I follow her on YT. I mean... why haunt a boring house, or some evil dude who doesn't believe in you, etc. I'm not sure anyone could interest me for "a lifetime" as an observer but still I enjoy a certain amount of people watching when I'm in public, or when they share online. I've had a few... moments in my life where things I can't "easily" explain happened... so I believe it is possible. AI to me is only scary because people are making it. I trust computers to do what it was programmed to do, the people programming them are where my fear comes from. I don't trust people's motives and no human is infallible, so that is the "danger" of AI, that it is born from humans. My two issues with "organized religion" is 1) you are referring to a book/being that makes rules for you and you often don't question who wrote the book, or spoke to that being, or question the interpretation of the "teachings" you get. (And do you need an external set of rules to be "good"?) Then there is 2) "God" will forgive all your sins. Um... So he doesn't care if you do bad, make mistakes, etc. as long as you ask... so... your rigid adherence to "His Word" is optional?

If there was no anonymity on the Internet and people under 18 weren't allowed here, many queer teenagers would grow up feeling completely isolated or they'd be dead before they turned 18, just saying. There's gotta be another solution

In terms of the religion question at the end- I really appreciated hearing those takes on how to address these topics with a generally religious family. As you said, you don't HAVE to say anything, but these things come up sometimes, especially if the queer person's family is aware that they are queer and that doesn't necessarily align with the religion they practice. I know for me, my parents read the Christian Bible daily , go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, and sort of turn a blind eye to my green hair and obvious queerness in the interest of keeping the peace and accepting who I am even in spite of some of their beliefs. Having more neutral conversations about the beauty of the cultures and people around us as well as about morals have really set us on more even ground. Maybe they still believe in the back of their minds that I will convert back, or maybe they have just accepted it. That doesn't matter; what really matters is that they still listen to, love, and support me daily.

I actually remember while going to a catholic highschool in Belgium, we watched the documentary during religion classes. Talking about how it was upsetting and the very extreme reactions the children showed. To think others just saw it neutrally is blowing my mind a little.
